Rhetorical Structures of Introduction Sections in Sinta-Indexed Journals

This discourse study examines the rhetorical structures of RA introductions in Sinta 1 indexed ELT journals by implementing Swales’ (2004) CARS model as framework for analysis. A corpus consisting 36 was randomly collected from three SINTA journals, namely TEFLIN, SiELE, and IJAL, 2019-2021. The analysis done using top-down findings indicated that all moves, i.e., Move Establishing a territory, 2 niche, 3 Presenting present work, appeared introduction section across journals. Although not authors presented moves steps appropriate sequences, found data were based on model. It is highly suggested EFL students follow writing an introduction.
